Happy September! Can you believe it’s almost fall? I don’t know about you, but I am so grateful that this time of year has finally arrived. I am a lover of fall. I love all things autumn, and even though I don’t go to school anymore, I always feel like the new school year is a new beginning. So I thought I would bring you ten things that I’m super excited about this upcoming season:
Or jumpers, cardigans, sweatshirts, pullovers. Oh, and coats. Any and all of these things make me so excited. I enjoy dressing for fall way more than for summer and I feel like there are so many more options and combinations available since you can layer.
Don’t yell at me, but the rain, for me, is so soothing and peaceful and calm. I love the sound, the smell, the grey sky, and the cold. I would absolutely prefer to be in colder, gloomier weather, so fall is the best time of year.
Watching football on t.v. or going to high school or college games is just part of life during the fall. Getting to bundle up and stand out in the cold to watch a game is a very supportive community activity, which is also a plus.
Seeing the leaves start to change fills me with so much excitement. Once the first few glimpses of red, yellow, and orange appear, you know that soon the streets will be lined with the most beautiful colors and yards will be full of bright, crunchy leaves.
In a similar vein as sweaters, boots are one of my favorite things to wear when there’s cold weather. They spruce up an outfit, they’re cute, and they are a chance to show off some personal style.
6. Favorite Show Re-Watches
Since the weather isn’t so conducive to doing things outside, it’s the perfect time to stay inside and put on a movie or show. Personally, I take this opportunity to watch some of my favorite shows again, like Gilmore Girls, The West Wing, The X-Files, and others (what are some of your favorite shows to binge watch over and over?).
Do you have an Oktoberfest where you live? If not, it’s basically a huge food festival, where people walk up and down the food-booth-lined streets and eat a lot of German-inspired food and drink to their heart’s content. While I’m not there for the beer, the whole occasion is just a staple of September and fall wouldn’t be the same without it.
8. School Supplies
No, I’m not actually in school anymore, but that doesn’t mean I can’t purchase a few new stationery bits to get organized. There’s nothing quite as glorious to me as a new planner to fill out, and I have my eye on some Target binders so I can sort out bills, recipes, and important papers. Fun, right?? Oh, and if you need a recommendation for the best pens ever, look no further than the Pilot G-2 in .38.
9. Cooking + Baking
I always think Autumn is the perfect time to find and try out new recipes, since Summer is more for quick fixes in terms of food. I have Joanna Gaines’ cookbook that came out this year and I’ve made a few things from it, but hope to really dive in during the colder months. I think baking and cooking is a fantastic indoor activity, and you get something delicious out of it in the end!
Would I be writing a fall blog post if I didn’t love fall candles? Fall and winter candles are just so much better than those for other seasons, and burning them adds a nice little cozy element to any room. Obviously Bath & Body Works have amazing scents, but you can absolutely find great ones at Home Goods and TJ Maxx as well.
What are you looking forward to in the next few months?! Let me know down in the comments!
Until next time. xx
